FortisBC Natural gas furnace rebates

Replacing your home's old natural gas furnace with an eligible ENERGY STAR® model could qualify you for a rebate of $800 or up to $1,000 with FortisBC.

The annual fuel utilization efficiency rating of the newly installed furnace will determine the rebate amount. The models with 95% to 96.9% AFUE furnace (York TM9V) will receive a rebate of $800 whereas a 97% to 99% AFUE furnace (York YP9C) will receive a rebate of $1000.

General Eligibility
  • The home must have a residential FortisBC natural gas account.

  • Must be submitted within 6 months of the paid invoice date.

  • The home must be a year-round primary residence at least 12 months old and be either a single-family, duplex, triplex, row home, townhouse or mobile home on a permanent foundation. New construction, additions and garage upgrades are not eligible.

The CleanBC Better Homes website is an online hub for homeowners and businesses to access information about all of the options available to them. 
 

For example there are rebates available in Kelowna for:

 - Installing a Heat Pump (both ducted and ductless)

 - Installing a High Efficiency Furnace

 - Upgrading a Fireplace

 - Upgrading to an On Demand Water heater

 - Upgrading Windows, Insulation and more.

CleanBC Better Homes is funded by the Province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada under the Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund.

FortisBC Heat pump rebate

Get up to $2,000 in rebates when you replace your existing hard-wired electric heating system such as electric baseboards, radiant ceiling, radiant floors or a forced-air furnace. (Note: The back-up space heating system must also be electric).

 

Before beginning work, make sure you qualify for this rebate by reviewing the Program Rebate Requirements, as outlined in the terms and conditions and the eligibility and rebate details below.

General eligibility
  • Your home must have a residential FortisBC natural gas account.

  • The home must be a year-round primary residence at least 12 months old and be either a single-family, duplex, triplex, row home, townhouse or mobile home on a permanent foundation.

  • Applications must be submitted within 6 months of the invoice date. 

  • Only one rebate per home for a primary space heating system and a water heater is allowed.

Kelowna $2000 Heat Pump Top-Up Rebate

The City of Kelowna is offering a litmited time offer of $2,000 top-up rebate to CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program participants that switch from a fossil fuel (oil, natural gas, or propane) heating system to an electric air source heat pump. 

 

These municipal top-up rebates will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Municipal funding is subject to availability and top-up rebates are not guaranteed.

Eligibility
  • Your upgrades must be completed on or after August 01, 2021.

  • You must be a FortisBC, BC Hydro, or municipal utility customer.

  • You must live in an eligible home.

  • You must be a resident of the City of Kelowna.

  • Home must be a year-round primary residence that is at least 12 months old.
